Obesity or overweight is a major health problem affecting millions of people worldwide especially in countries such as the US. It has become an epidemic affecting people severely.
The recent research on growing obesity revealed a dangerously overweight world population. According to which during last 10 years, there was a drastic increase in the number of obese people and the diseases associated with obesity. Obesity is associated with numerous disadvantages ranging from serious to very scary. Here given below are some of the disadvantages of obesity -
Health Hazards
Obesity has innumerable health hazards including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, breathing issues, sleeping issues, high cholesterol levels, heart problems, pregnancy issues, cancer and respiratory ailments etc.
Depression and Low self-esteem
Most of the obese people suffer from depression because of the prejudice they have to endure which is very frustrating and stressful.
Sexual Problems
Obesity has a direct effect on the sexual functions of an individual. Both men and women who are obese usually experiences lack of sexual enjoyment, and poor performance in bed. They also have low libido.
Furthermore various studies showed that the rate of sexual problems in obese people is higher than the people with normal weight. Obese women mainly lose their self-confidence which may results in loss of affection as well as self-consciousness.
Social Issues
Obese people are usually a subject of fun or jokes for others in the society. However people forget that obese people are also human beings and they have feelings.
